Stray weeds?
Hi Everyone,
Today is pleasant, despite it being summer.
Notices:
1. The seasonal fruits of shavuot are peaches, nectarines, apricots,cherries.....I cannot clearly predict in advance because they do not grow here. Therefore, if you any of these fruits, please notify me in advance so I may order themfor you. Avocados are very close to the end of their season so consider this if you wish some.
All fruits are organic and grown in Israel.
weeds and winter 4/1/10
Dear vegetable lovers,
The last few weeks have been a race against the weeds and to plant more seeds and seedlings - very atypical for this time of year. Usually in the middle of winter (which is exactly now, after the winter solstice and during the coldest part of the year, when the days are growing longer and we are approaching spring), the war against the weeds eases up, there is a break from planting and sowing, and we slow down because the cold weather slows plant growth.
In the summer, a lettuce seedling can be ready to harvest within 3 weeks of planting.

Hi,
This week weeding, weeding, weeding, and the garden looks very nice. See photos at http://maggiesgarden.shutterfly.com/ Notice the sunflowers. Sunflower is a summer plant and I used it in the garden to attract insects and for variety. What you see is the result of the combination of of seeds that fell to the ground and the unseasonably spring weather.
While I really don't mind the weeds, It is always nice to see a row with only what is supposed to be in it. Most of the weeds are around what I have planted.
